Molds

For my mold I made baby hands. I think the mold process was a little boring. I mean it was easy but I didn't enjoy it. I think the hands ended up pretty good I mean one ended up breaking but it had so many cracks in it I figured it would, as for the other hand it is a great ring holder.

Pit fired

I made the Pit fired piece by rolling out a piece of clay and putting it over a bouncy ball I then cut the whole thing and reshaped my two halves.  After that I put a lock on it so I could have the match together. After that I put tera Sig on it and then you pit fired it. I didn't like the way it turned out. I do not like the way it looks, especially mine. I don't think i would try this again.

Relief

For my relief piece I used something up a little bit different then most prople, i worked with Christmas lights. I ended up shaping the lights into a wreath formation cutting out drywall, crushing ornaments, and drilling a bunch of holes. Obviously my project was a little different than the average persons and I got the inspiration for my project through lights. I love light bulbs I find them super fun to work with and I knew that I wanted to incorporate then into my piece. Another big inspiration for my piece was christmas, obviously I really love Christmas and it was really fun to making something that I love. My favorite part of the piece was having it light up even though it broke a couple times, a bunch of the lights went out I still thought it ended up looking super cool and I would say it was successful. Next time I would try a little bit harder to be careful with the drywall and not let Grayson kick it. Here are the pictures of my piece.

Mini projects

For my relief pieces I started off with clay, it was probably the hardest for me to work with. I naturally am not the best with clay and trying a new technique was harder, and making the three dimensional part was even harder. The next piece I did was cardboard this was quite easy and fun, the hardest part was probably just choosing what to do. And my last mini project didn't exactly work out, I tried to make a paper flower but it kept ripping and now I am focused on my main project. I think when I reattempt the paper flower (with tissue paper) it Will work much better. Here are pictures of all my pieces...

David Surls

The sculpturist that I chose was David Surl, here are some of his pieces.

I really like the fact that he does abstract art and how all of his pieces are very original. I also like that all of his pieces incorporate some sort of flowers. These are all pieces that I would like to do get inspiration from.
