Origami movie review

I thought this movie was really interesting. I love the way all the stuff looks, but it seems like its a lot of work to make stuff that's easier to make with a different material. I do think that it makes it more unique and interesting.  It also seems to involve a lot of math... I don't really like that. I thought it was really cool that they used oragami to help design satellites that went to space. Folding human proteins was another example of using oragami for science.  I had no idea there was so much stuff origami could help with outside of art.

Origami Installation

We created the cranes by taking big pieces of paper, and I followed YouTube tutorials to learn how to make them.  As for how they got together, that was a bit of a bigger process.  We started off by laying all the cranes on the ground in the formation they should be in, strung them together, and then hung them up.  I really liked this project, I love spacing and abstract looking pieces, and this was almost a combination of abstract and like figurative origami stuff. The process was much different than the product in installations, because it's not completely done until the whole installation was done.
Here are some pictures I got off of Carly's blog, took me quite some time to find these things.

Tray and Bowl

I wasn't a huge fan of the process of making these, because I don't like having little mistakes and stuff, so working with molds isn't the most fun for me. I used under glaze in my piece and I loved it, it was easy and quick. However, I ran into a few problems with it. First it made my piece kind of messy, it got into tiny holes that it shouldn't have been in and it didn't stay completely because some of my lines were too faint. Oh well overall I really liked the way they both turned out and that they match!

Dwelling

This is by far my favorite project so far :) But since you're making me focus on the negative... I had quite a difficult time cutting the Plexiglas. I also wasn't the best at shaping the whale, but you helped so it all ended up okay. More negativity... I would change the size of the box my whale was in, he had a bit too big of a "home" for the message I was trying to spread. Lastly with some happy stuff, this project was all around successful as I said before it is my favorite project so far.
