Cinemagraph

I created a cinemagraph of me walking.
I picked this bc I thought it would be like time travel.
Walking is special.
The hard part was lighting. It kept changing and had to smudge the dark stuff into light stuff to make it look less stupid.
Here I recommend staying indoors and around lights that are higher quality than the pods lights.

I created a cinemagraph of me walking.
I chose this bc I saw a hairdryer and thought that could work.
Hairdryers are not my favorite.
The most annoying difficult part was when my stupid spray paint didnt work. I should've made a cinemagraph of me hitting it.
I would recommend using a hairdryer it worked really well and was fun.

Stop Motion videos

Yikes here they are
 https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8qOeVS2u4oXcVK4LyaRpqsrKWMcIazKG

1. Easiest was straight ahead, it literally isn't a rule.
2. Hardest was probably anticipation we couldn't come up with an idea and then when we did it didn't make the most sense. It was also very similar to exaggeration and kind of follow through.
3. I have a love hate of stop motion videos. I think they were fun to film doing all the weird stuff but honestly so glad they're done. I think we've seen like 500 stop motions and thats enough for a lifetime.

Character design

This is my character design. She is supposed to be what the sisters looked like before they got their eyes stolen and were like evil.
Now I know this picture isn't great, but it is a great GREAT improvement. And before you start judging my pictures, try drawing on a computer... its not easy.

The Michael Jackson picture was on accident, but I'm still very proud of it.
What was successful: I made a person and it looks way better than my brainstorms
Not successful: the person is still ugly, and doesn't fit into the movie in any way.

Library

In the library we did 2 things and I deleted one of them :( Here's the digital painting :)

keychain

The most successful part was that it looks like a cow. The worst part was tinkercad. I chose this because I wanted a keychain of a cow to show everyone im a vegan and like cows. The picture didn't work so this will have to do

Movie Assignment

The title is Kubo and The Two Strings, production is Laika. It was created by 3-D printing and stop motion. Some of the main people working on the movie were Cristina Acuña, Enrico Altmann, Casey Zander Anderson, John Aoshima, Andy Berry, Tony P. Chen, Trevor Dalmer. Monika Fedrick was the title graphic designer. She worked on a lot of famous movies doing graphic animation stuff.  Gone Girl, Iron man2, 3, and X man were all famous movies shes worked on. A special part of this movie was the first entirely printed huge dragon. I saw it in the movie and it was awesome. I thought the most interesting part of the movie was its story. It was a little depressing with both his parents dying but I thought the whole journey thing and all the awesome graphics around the way were cool.

Intro to 3D printing

The most difficult part of this process was working on tinkercad, I hate this thing. It didn't let me sign in for days and then it was just annoying and kept kicking me out when I got in. I fixed this issue by waiting and occasionally it would let me work for a while. I don't think I would consider any of this successful tbh. If I could design anything it would be a replica of the human heart. Crisitina Yang anyone?

Intro to Vectors

This was a terrible project I didn't get it and it looks super messed up... sorry. This isn't successful at all, in the future I would redo the whole thing and yanno finish it.

Package design projecttttt

At first I had no idea what I wanted to make, I had a spray bottle and 0 ideas. Then while watching Donald Trump make a fool of himself I thought about Bernie and how great he was. Then it hit me, Feel the Bern. Someone as cool as Bernie Sanders needs his own hot sauce and I need to make a product so everyone wins! Designing this thing was interesting, I wanted it to look as similar to Tobasco as possible. I also wanted to add in as many little hidden messages to make it cute. So it was a lot of layers, text wrapping, and sizing. The most successful part is the fact that a lot of people didn't even realize I changed the labels. Honestly there is nothing I would change, I love bernie and I think it ended up really cute.
Ok here are the pictures I forgot to add, please change my grade from a 0!!!

Edible architecture

A little fruit fly live in these pineapple houses. I decided to choose pineapple because they're just really weird looking fruits and I love pineapple. Clearly I didn't do the best job at making it realistic, but i literally warped everything. I warped the windows, doors, the pineapples to the bushes. Then I started adding shadows to make it more realistic looking, they didn't really help much. If I could change anything... idk everything. Definitely the windows, maybe the background, the fly. Anyways here it is.

Newanimal

^^^^ This is the equivalent of my frog tongue, I used my zoo animal (cougar) and combined it with a cow. Sticking with my theme I decided to use a cougar and combined it with a fish. Meshing the two animals was a little difficult with the scales, but I just lowered the opacity. If I were to change something, I might've picked a brighter colored fish. This way it blends, but a purple fish could be really cool. And like i said before this is a mix between a cougar and a fish it doesn't have a name because cougar and fish really don't blend well word-wise. My other animal, the cowgar (cougar and cow) would technically be a part of our little animal family.

Here is my beautiful cougar/fish

Clone

I am already quite familiar with Photoshop, and have used layer masks before. However, I struggled a bit with remembering where all the buttons were, I also had some technical difficulties with the computer freezing up. Shadows were also a bit of a challenge but I got help. Lastly I didn't realize my blurred, and I accidentally cut a lot of myself out at first. If I could change anything it would be the actual pose, I looked very disgusted and insane in most of the pictures! Oh well at least it looks interesting :)

Art 3 Exam

The two pieces I chose to show my growth as an artist would be my tree and stencil face. To begin, the tree was a project assigned by Ms. Rossi. She told me I couldn't make it 3-D, but it could be relief. The project was taking something natural and making it mechanical. Long story short, I decided to draw a tree and cover the whole thing in glass. To begin I drew the tree, this was a lot harder then it sounds. I'm not a fan of drawing, so I really struggled with shading and everything. I learned a lot about value and all those drawing rules. After I finished drawing it I added the glass, this was my favorite part, it took some time but I really enjoyed this. I think that this piece will help me in the future with drawing stuff, I never wanted to do 2-D art before this project, now I can say I am willing to do 2-D art; progress.
Here is a picture of the Tree

My other piece the stencil face was one of my favorite art pieces I've ever done. I started off with a super angry/ kinda cartoony sketch with oil pastels and it looked super cool. I was planning on drawing a huge version of it on one of the walls in the school, but I wasn't allowed to :( Then we were trying to find ways to put it on paper and I didn't like any of it so I agreed to the stencil thing (very reluctantly). I just sketched out the face features on cardboard and Mr. Sands helped me with where to cut things out with the exacto knife. I did two different stencils, so I could layer them and have a background and foreground thing. I struggled with which parts to cut out, for some reason I just couldn't figure it out. I also got really frustrated with the stencils, cardboard and wet paint don't work well for that long. I really only got one day out of the stencils and that was kind of sad, but I put up enough of my little faces to be happy. I think that this piece taught me to try things even if you think its going to be ugly, you never know how it will end up.
My artistic strengths: Creativity. I think the thing that makes me a good artist is my approach in making a piece. I spend a lot of time thinking, I want all of my art to be really unique and different. I also think that I'm pretty good at throwing stuff together, some of my favorite things I've done have been really random and weird and I think that adds a lot of character to art (the randomness).
My weaknesses: I get very frustrated and annoyed when something takes too long or doesn't look good immediately so I end up giving up on a lot of things. Moving forward I'm going to try to stop doing this, its really stupid and stops me from making cool things.

A piece I struggled with is my lump. Don't get me wrong, I loved this piece SO MUCH! It shows my weirdness, my creativity and my love for random stuff. I think that the piece would be a fail to most people, I mean it is a bunch of plaster balloon with sculpta-mold weirdness over it and ink sprayed all over the place. My struggle would probably be trying to figure out what to do. I had a really hard time deciding what to do. Then when I started adding things I was still really confused, it wasn't until I went outside and had a little photo-shoot of it with Mr. Sands that I learned I loved that ugly little lump. I had a lot of fun making it, and I learned a lot from it. If I could re-do my lump I would make it the exact same. I used new materials, and learned a lot about what I liked in art. You should be having fun making art, and if you're not you're not you should try making a lump.
My favorite piece, not just in art 3, but ever is my Lion. I call all my pieces by what they are, but I actually did name this one- The Roar Heard Around the World. All of my favorite art pieces have stories behind them, they have significance in my life. I came up with my lion because of Mr. Sands. He showed me the tape layering technique so I have to give him some credit. Now the reason I did a lion, not really sure I was just trying to think of an animal that would look cool in brown packing tape. Let me just tell you, layering tape is not fun. It is a SLOW process and its not really that interesting. Mr. Sands tried so hard to get me to do my work but I really just wasn't feeling it. I ended up giving up on it, but he got me started on it again. I didn't love the piece until we decided the story behind it. The lion is supposed to represent the hierarchy of animals- the ones that humans have created based on the beauty and intelligence of an animal. I created a lion, when people look at it they see a beautiful and amazing animal. When they see a cow or pig, they see an animal that doesn't deserve life, that deserves to be treated with cruelty and live a life of suffering. I find that horrible, and although people don't see my lion and think "wow I should look at all animals like I'm looking at this lion," I am hoping that enough people will hear the story and think twice about taking the life of any animal, no matter how smart or intelligent. Anyways that story is what inspired me to keep working. This piece really shows who I am as an artist, its unique and has its own feel to it. There are different sized pieces and shapes of tape, the medium is really different and fun. Most importantly, the story behind it is why I love art. All great art should be telling a story, and this story is so important to me. This reason its my favorite is because of the story, it also reminds me of Mr. Sands so that makes me love it too. Oh and the reason behind the name, I want this story to be heard by everyone. And its "The Roar" because its a lion.  So hear he is:

Story Metaphor Lion Thingy

For this project I decided to make a lion, out of tape. I took a picture of a lion did some fancy Photoshop stuff (Mr. Sands actually did that part) then I made a grid of where each layer of tape needs to go. After that I put a bunch of transparent little overhead sheets on top of my grid and then started the taping process. Let me tell you cutting up tape is not fun, and then layering 5 layers of teeny tiny tape in the precise location is not fun. Its also very time consuming, so I'm nowhere close to done yet. But I'll put a picture in here when I finish. Anyways so why did I do a tape lion? because Mr. Sands showed me how layering packing tape adds different values. But seriously the metaphor behind this whole lion, well as you will be able to see there are so many different layers to the piece because there is so much meaning, and it represents so many stories. The first being the whole Cecil the lion, yes it is sad a lion died, but can we only focus on negative things happening in Africa, I understand there are a lot of issues in Africa, but some countries in Africa are growing extremely rapidly and are doing very well economically and politically. However, we are Americans and seeing that another countries GDP is increasing drastically doesn't interest us like a group of murders does. Next why do Americans care so much about one lion dying compared to all the deer being killed, all the squirrels, the cows the pigs. What makes a lion so much more deserving of life? Is it because they're beautiful, they're intelligent. Pigs are as smart as dogs, but they aren't as attractive to Americans- therefore they get to die. Cows aren't pretty enough they can die, same with tuna, fish, chickens, turkey, etc. Why because we are humans do we feel we get to rule the rest of the world, we pride ourselves on our compassion and love, but only show a select few animals that love. As you can tell this piece has a lot of meaning to it, and I really hope that people will see it as more than just a picture of a lion.

The stencil face

I based my blind portrait off of a few things on that sheet, 1. He said "kill everything" and that's all I could make out 2. He couldn't write neatly. So I started off by making this angry drawing with chalk pastels and stuff. I wanted it to be angry but super messy at the same time. That was really easy to do with chalk pastels. For my real project I wanted to something even bigger, and slightly less boring. At first I was going to do a huge painting, but instead I ended up making cardboard stencils of my angry face and put them up around the school. The part that kept it being really messy and making it look angry was when I put a super huge coat of chalk paint on so when I pressed it against the wall some would drip down. Anyways this project ended up a lot better than I though it would, but it didn't last too long. The chalk paint soaked up into the cardboard and ruined the stencils, but it was fun while it lasted :)

Lump

For my first project in Art 3 I decided to make a lump. Despite the negative connotation of lumps, mine is amazing and beautiful. But you can clearly see that in the pictures below. Hope you enjoy my amazing art and photography skills :)

FINAL PROJECT (Sorryyyy it's late I was studying for APES)

1. As you said tools are very important, but I spent a little bit more time and grew to really understand one specific tool this semester. That would be the hot glue gun. Without the hot glue gun, many and I mean MANY of my pieces wouldn't have been able to end up working. Hot glue guns are nifty little tools that are great at sticking things together super quick and quite well. It's not as strong as E600, but it smells a lot better and is much easier to use. Especially with all the practice I've had. Also it is much stronger than your average Elmer's glue. Here is a picture of my beautiful hot glue gun.

2. Now I kind of answered this above, but I have learned so much this semester. Not only with hot glue, but a lot of the clay tools. There are a lot of tricks to make you life so much easier, like the clay rib and Exacto knives.

Questions I chose:
1. I worked with so many different materials this year and I enjoyed working with a lot of them, but my favorite had to be clay. At first I wasn't a fan of clay, my pieces always ended up very lopsided and not how I wanted them to. But after a little bit of help and a lot of help from the tool bucket I got much better.  Now I'm not an expert with clay yet, but I really enjoy working with it. My favorite part about clay is just how versatile it is. Now with someone like me, that isn't always a good thing (I get frustrated very easily) but I love getting to make something big and spectacular out of a type of soil. I also really love the glaze on it, it just looks sooo pretty and shiny. Here is a picture of my favorite piece I made out of clay.

2.  I saw this question, it hit me like a tornado. My least favorite material to work with. I'll give you some time to guess. Just so you don't cheat or accidentally see the answer you're going to have to scroll a bit to find it.

Plexi Glass. I hate it, IT IS SO HARD TO CUT. I'm sure you know all of this already but the only way to break plexi glass is to cut it with a box cutter and then break it off. It is just so hard to cut through and I have such weak little arms it was nearly impossible! How I dealt with it, this was hard especially because I got a few measurements wrong and had to redo some pieces. Basically I just spent a lot of classes cutting and being frustrated. And here's the exact same picture as above, but this time just look at the box/ "Seaworld".

3. Okay you're almost done! For my last question I'm going to surprise you a little bit. I wanted to pick a more heartfelt question for my last one, because this is the last thing you'll be reading of mine for a while so... I picked my absolute favorite project. You wanted me to pick the piece I grew the most from. So I was scrolling through all my pieces this year and I found this one and I realized not only did I learn the most, grow the most, but it really was my favorite piece. Anyways it is sitting in a landfill somewhere,  but it will always hold a special place in my heart. Can you guess what it is, yes it's my very first main project, my now broken Holiday Wreath. As difficult and stubborn as this piece was I learned so much from it, I incorporated so many different styles and elements to it, and of course I love Christmas. I learned to use drywall, and electric saw thing, work with lights, a drill, wire, hot glue ;) paint, and some broken ornaments (glass).  Even though it broke, twice, I had so much fun making this piece, it was super creative and fun to make and it really was a great start to an amazing year (or semester).

Anyways sorry this is so long, and late :/ Hope you enjoyed reading because I LOVED being in your class:) See you in sculpture 2!!!!

Unconventional Material Project

I knew that I wanted to make some sort of dress when I heard about this project. My material that I got ended up being mulch, this was the first problem. Luckily my super nice teacher let me change it, and the second thing I got was wallpaper books. These are books filled with small scraps of wallpaper. At first I thought I would be able to sew the wallpaper together because it was a very flexible and cloth like material. However, this did not work out and I ended up having to use a hot glue gun to make my piece. I also wanted to make a dress, but it ended up being a skirt because of timing. Something I would change in the future would definitely be adding a top to the dress. Even though that was a lot of negative stuff, I really loved the way the skirt ended up looking. Here are some pictures of the finished project!
