Origami movie review

I thought this movie was really interesting. I love the way all the stuff looks, but it seems like its a lot of work to make stuff that's easier to make with a different material. I do think that it makes it more unique and interesting.  It also seems to involve a lot of math... I don't really like that. I thought it was really cool that they used oragami to help design satellites that went to space. Folding human proteins was another example of using oragami for science.  I had no idea there was so much stuff origami could help with outside of art.

Origami Installation

We created the cranes by taking big pieces of paper, and I followed YouTube tutorials to learn how to make them.  As for how they got together, that was a bit of a bigger process.  We started off by laying all the cranes on the ground in the formation they should be in, strung them together, and then hung them up.  I really liked this project, I love spacing and abstract looking pieces, and this was almost a combination of abstract and like figurative origami stuff. The process was much different than the product in installations, because it's not completely done until the whole installation was done.
Here are some pictures I got off of Carly's blog, took me quite some time to find these things.

Tray and Bowl

I wasn't a huge fan of the process of making these, because I don't like having little mistakes and stuff, so working with molds isn't the most fun for me. I used under glaze in my piece and I loved it, it was easy and quick. However, I ran into a few problems with it. First it made my piece kind of messy, it got into tiny holes that it shouldn't have been in and it didn't stay completely because some of my lines were too faint. Oh well overall I really liked the way they both turned out and that they match!

Dwelling

This is by far my favorite project so far :) But since you're making me focus on the negative... I had quite a difficult time cutting the Plexiglas. I also wasn't the best at shaping the whale, but you helped so it all ended up okay. More negativity... I would change the size of the box my whale was in, he had a bit too big of a "home" for the message I was trying to spread. Lastly with some happy stuff, this project was all around successful as I said before it is my favorite project so far.

Artist

The Figurative artist that i liked was Laurie Pace. She lives in Texas and is a very accomplished artist. I liked her pieces because of the color and shapes in them. The way that she painted all of the people blending into each other was really unique and interesting. It shows how all humans are connected, but all different in our own ways. The other painting she did that I really liked were these hands. A lot of people paint hands, but something about hers really stood out. I love her water color paintings, and just the way she paints. It's really unique and messy but still so pretty. She also incorporated all of the elements into the hands. I didn't notice the fire at first, but the more you look at it the more interesting it gets and I like that. Here are some of her pieces.

Vessel

For my vessel I thought it would be fun to do a box... That was my first mistake. I made many mistakes that I had to overcome, the first as I mentioned before was the fact that I made a box. I don't exactly like boxes, not really even sure why I made this. But the entire time I had to overcome the struggle of hating my piece. In the end it ended up looking not extremely terrible, thanks to your fantastic idea of covering it in glass jars that had fake flowers in them. However, in the future I would never make a box again, and I hope if any of your students ever say "Mrs. Sudkamp I want to make a box," you get my box out and warn them of the ugliness that is in their future. Even though it was ugly, it is probably the most functional piece in this whole room. I mean you really could out anything in it, it could support a good amount of weight so that's probs good. Anyways now it's time for picturesss!!!!!!!!

Molds

For my mold I made baby hands. I think the mold process was a little boring. I mean it was easy but I didn't enjoy it. I think the hands ended up pretty good I mean one ended up breaking but it had so many cracks in it I figured it would, as for the other hand it is a great ring holder.

Pit fired

I made the Pit fired piece by rolling out a piece of clay and putting it over a bouncy ball I then cut the whole thing and reshaped my two halves.  After that I put a lock on it so I could have the match together. After that I put tera Sig on it and then you pit fired it. I didn't like the way it turned out. I do not like the way it looks, especially mine. I don't think i would try this again.

Relief

For my relief piece I used something up a little bit different then most prople, i worked with Christmas lights. I ended up shaping the lights into a wreath formation cutting out drywall, crushing ornaments, and drilling a bunch of holes. Obviously my project was a little different than the average persons and I got the inspiration for my project through lights. I love light bulbs I find them super fun to work with and I knew that I wanted to incorporate then into my piece. Another big inspiration for my piece was christmas, obviously I really love Christmas and it was really fun to making something that I love. My favorite part of the piece was having it light up even though it broke a couple times, a bunch of the lights went out I still thought it ended up looking super cool and I would say it was successful. Next time I would try a little bit harder to be careful with the drywall and not let Grayson kick it. Here are the pictures of my piece.

Mini projects

For my relief pieces I started off with clay, it was probably the hardest for me to work with. I naturally am not the best with clay and trying a new technique was harder, and making the three dimensional part was even harder. The next piece I did was cardboard this was quite easy and fun, the hardest part was probably just choosing what to do. And my last mini project didn't exactly work out, I tried to make a paper flower but it kept ripping and now I am focused on my main project. I think when I reattempt the paper flower (with tissue paper) it Will work much better. Here are pictures of all my pieces...

David Surls

The sculpturist that I chose was David Surl, here are some of his pieces.

I really like the fact that he does abstract art and how all of his pieces are very original. I also like that all of his pieces incorporate some sort of flowers. These are all pieces that I would like to do get inspiration from.
Here is his link davidjsurls at LinkedIn

THE VERY LAST POST EVER (for real)

I have made a lot of beautiful pieces of art this semester. So many it was very difficult to choose which one was the best. But when all was said and done I would have to say our group shadow project was the best. We spent a while making the grid, but after that it got really fun we all worked together and collaborated. Shared ideas, taught each other, and all worked together to make something super cool! We also had to use our problem solving skills. Being outside it was sort of hard to make sure everything stayed in place. We also made the mistake of using different sized tiles to make the grid, so we had to redo some parts, but it was all good in the end.  Here's how it turned out

The picture that I would most like to redo are the pancakes we made on our very first day of photo shop. You see I didn't exactly know how to work photoshop so it didn't end up all that great. The mouth was just stuck on the pancakes without a lot of blending, and the eyes on the top weren't very realistic... they were blue dots. I mean it was a goodish first attempt but I can definitely see the improvement.
:)

Final Blog (Almost)

I create original art. We make a lot of fun things in this class, but you have to be pretty creative to come up with fun pieces. The piece that I'm going to be using as my example is the frame picture. We were told to go out and use a frame to show our personalities. My great idea was to make my frame be an x-ray vision thing and make my feet into bones. You can see what it looks like below...
The next question was if I ever used a source for inspiration, I am happy to tell you I thought of this amazing idea all on my own. You see I have all of these creative thoughts just spewing out of me, no help needed.
:)

Final blog post (but not really)

For the first piece I spray painted a heart when we were outside. While I was spray painting this Megan took a burst photo of me doing it. After this we went on photoshop to create a gif. I had to choose which color to spray paint, and I wanted to paint something simple but still represented me. So I used orange because I like orange, and then a heart because I'm nice. Even though the majority of the project was done on the computer, without the actual picture that I spray painted the technology part never could have been done.
Here it is

The next piece was our Post-it note thingy. We started off in the computer lab choosing a person, then changing the picture to make it high contrast. Then I used the sticky note colors to make them similar, lastly I made everything into tiny little squares. After we voted and I WONNN we took it back to our classroom and made some art. So we used the picture and sticky notes, and then made a grid to put them on. I played the expert role as the tape girl. Without having the computer I never could have made this AMAZINGG tribute Paul.

Disney Superhero Mashup

This is the final day in photoshop and I made sure to make my last project the best.
Yes, I know it's amazing feel free to give me a 100. So I took one of my favorite princesses and combined her with the very best superhero to make the BESTTTT mashup ever :)

Movie Poster Parody

For our project the goal was to take a movie poster, and photoshop it into something totally different. For mine I took the friends T.V. show poster thingy and made it into enemies. I chaged the words cropped the picture a little bit and turned all of their eyes red.

Animation

For my animation I was inspired by my ladybug Mia. One day in gym class she flew away, so I decided to make an animation of that moment. Here she is :)

Scrambling

For this project we had to take a picture and scramble it. Instead of just switching up some body parts I took a spin on something my friend says all the time.
Yes, she says she looks like a potato. After a lot of work and considerable amount of effort, I took 6 pictures of her and made her into a pile of potatoes :)

Shadow thingy

So for my shadow, I decided to do something a little different from the original assignment. The assignment was to show the persons true self, so I did Mr. Derda with coffee. Here's how it turned out :)

Slicinggg

For this project we had to use our creative juices. It was our first day of photoshop, and we got to slice some things. First we had to think of something creative, being so creative this was quite easy for me! I decided to slice my watermelon and put water in it... you see what I did there now didn't you!
Here she is :)

Monster

My monster is the best because it isn't even a monster, it is a dinosaur, in particular a hearasaur. This is the best creature to ever be made, and you are the luckiest person ever because you can keep her. You see I'm still trying to pick a name for her, but I can't think of one. Anyways we're still trying to finish painting her so I don't have a final product, but you'll see her when she's all done.
Alright so I got the idea of this heartasaur a long time ago with Kara. I decided to use this instead of a monster. Then we started sculpting, as always it took a lotttttt of work. I had to make her perfect! After working on that we went to the computer lab and we worked on making adds for the box, which by the way are adorable.
After a few days in there we went back to the class, made boxes for the monsters, and then started painting them. As I said before, not really done yet, BUT she will be way worth the wait :)

Anamorphics

For our anamorphic thingy I tried to make a candy cane. That was a mistake. We had to try to make it 3D but that really didnt work out... so we didnt end up using mine. So we chose Kara's and drew it outside. First we started out by making a grid on the pavement, that wasn't fun.
Afterwards we started drawing what Kara told us to and then we drew in the spots and colored it.
We shaded and then it looked really cool ya Im gonna show you a picture now.
Here it is I think it looks pretty cool :)

Post it project

I really liked this project. Probably because we got to use the thing that I designed, but it was really fun and ended up looking really cool. We started off in the computer lab working on converting a regular picture into a post it note template. After voting mine won, and we went back to the art room to work on it. I had the hardest job ever I was the person they put the tape on, here is a picture of all my important work I was doing.
Here is a picture of the finished project :)
I did a great job didn't I???

Walk cycle

This is my handicapable dinosaur, you can't make fun of her. Her name is the heartasaur, and she gets offended when people say she doesn't walk right... don't make fun :)

Cinemagraph

Here it is whewww that took a longg time. So I started off the first day and tried spray painting it didn't work because of the wind, and then I had paint issues. Anyways it finally worked and then I just layered the pictures up and erased the wall so it didn't look as weird. So that's it :)

Newinimal Project

I'm not even sure what a newimal is... but I believe this is what you're looking for. So the animal my group got was a cougar, which fun fact is a puma! Anyways i just added a weird blonde cow head onto the cougars body and bled the fur and colors until they matched as best they could.
I call it the Cowgar :)

Light Painting

For my light painting I was made into a multitude of different things. Some of which include an angel, devil, dinosaur, yeah it was interesting. I thought that it was pretty fun, although I wasn't particularly good at using the light pens. Here's the picture that includes me looking like a devil, with angel wings. Little creepy huh??? Well thats it damelo bueno nota por favor :)

Painting

This painting took quite some time to do, but you already know that. I wasn't expecting it to look like this, but I ended up liking it. Anyways I started out with the sky which took FOREVER!! Then moved onto the stars which were fun, and then the trees which were so annoying. Then I added the moon which was a big long process and then I tried to add light reflections in the water, which ended badly. I ended up having to redo the whole lake and I added purple. I also added shrubs and stuff which I like and that's about it :)

Cartoon Bones

This was my favorite project that we have done so far! I did snow whites bones. At first I thought it would be just a boring human skeleton, but then Tess gave me the idea of ripping part of her dress and drawing the bones in there. I think it ended up pretty good... but you can decide for yourself :)

Final Cartoon

For my final cartoon I wanted to do something fun and interesting to me. I looked up a bunch of white girl problems and chose my favorite to draw. Sadly I didnt get to finish, but my plan was to draw...
Starbucks being closed
Complaining about how a dress makes her "look fat"
Whining that "he still hasn't answered"
And saying that she has no clothes, while staring at her closet full of clothes
Here it is :)

Cartoon Photoshop

I got a lot better this time! See here...

I thought this project was a lot of fun, much better than pancakes.
PS- My friend Alexa Moghadam is in AOIT and she wants to be in this class, so can she?
PPS- I like this class, its fun :)

Pancake Photoshopping

So the first photoshop thing we did was make angry pancakes. I didn't really do too good on this project...
So it sort of looks like there's a random mouth hanging off the pancakes, but it shows how much i improved in my next photoshopping adventure. :)
